Back Into Your Zone

When chaos hits, do you stay clear and grounded, add to the chaos, or run around putting out fires?

We’ve all been there.

One day you’re firing on all cylinders, leading with confidence and clarity, and the next you feel scattered, frustrated, or just plain off your game.

What throws you off

What tends to throw you off your game, and how do you usually react?

Some people project their stress outward, while others remain calm and process it internally.

Neither response is right or wrong, but each creates a ripple.

The sgnals you’re out of your zone

The contrast is clear when you’re out of your zone.

You may feel drained even after a good night’s sleep.

Small things trigger big reactions.

Decisions feel harder, second-guessing takes over, and you feel out of sync with your team or yourself.

Sometimes that awareness is instant.

At other times, it’s a slow burn that surfaces later as stress, disengagement, or self-doubt.

This isn’t failure

These signals aren’t failures.

They’re invitations to realign.

Awareness matters because, as a leader, you set the tone for your team.

When you’re out of your zone, it ripples through your team and organization.

Engagement drops.
Communication breaks down.
Performance suffers.

But when you choose to reset, you create a ripple effect of energy, clarity, and renewed focus.

A simple reset

Here’s a quick 3-step way to realign when you notice you’re slipping:

Pause. Stop what you’re doing, take a deep breath, and check in.

Identify. What’s draining your energy right now?

Action. What one action, even small, would give you energy back?

It doesn’t have to be dramatic.

Sometimes the reset is as simple as taking a walk, engaging in a conversation with a trusted friend, or saying no to something that doesn’t fit.

Reflection

Where in your life or leadership do you feel in your zone, and where do you feel out of it?

If you’re feeling off your game or your leadership edge isn’t where you want it to be, the next step is at the top of the page.
