CliftonStrengths®: Achiever® – getting stuff done

by | Jan 13, 2019 | Strengths

CliftonStrengths® defines the theme of Achiever® as “Work hard and possess a great deal of stamina. You take immense satisfaction in being busy and productive.

You thrive on completion

One symbol for this theme is the to-do list; you love having a list of to-do’s, especially as you get to check them off, one at a time.

Like groundhog day, every day starts from scratch; what you did yesterday doesn’t count, and you love to push the envelope for yourself and others.

You may push yourself to complete your list of the day to feel a sense of achievement.

You have an internal fire

Burning within to get stuff done, being hungry to achieve more every day, so get that task list going.

You may want to include downtime and activities that you love, like your choice of workout, into your schedule and other important achievements, as it’s easy to allow work to take over your life.

What can you add to your life or current project(s) to push you to the next level? To continually challenge yourself, set the bar higher for each project you start.

You need the freedom to work at your own pace. Celebrate your successes and completions. Take a short break now and then.

Incorporate your highest priorities into projects, plus interests and passions that drive you to succeed in your projects. Adding your specific game plan to accomplish achievements could serve as an incentive. It could be the way you track your scores or the rewards upon completion, even if it’s only for a moment.

Doing nothing doesn’t work for you

You need to be busy and productive, or “it” will appear as a big waste of time.

You love working with people that work hard too, and slackers are not your cup of tea. In fact, you hate that mentality.

This doing theme is the #1 top 5 theme of all CliftonStrengths® talent themes in the USA, where being productive is important.

Partnering with people that have similar energy will energize you. Other achievers or themes like Focus® or Maximizer® could compliment you.

Smelling the roses?

Doing and completing has that effect on you. It’s not that you can’t relax; you just thrive more when you’re in action.

You take pride in being busy and productive. You’re hungry and a go-getter so people can often count on your to deliver.

You also need the freedom to work at your own pace.

You have high expectations

What if you directed your energy toward helping your team(s) reach their targets?

Tracking metrics like milestones, prospects targeted and closed, and more could motivate you to help guide your team.

You may want to check in with your team before committing to timelines and new projects, as their pace and needs may be different.
