From Answers to Questions

One of the hardest shifts in leadership is realizing that your job changes as your team grows.

In the beginning, your experience, judgment, and quick decisions help create momentum.

People come to you because you have the answers.

As your team grows, so does your role

Over time, though, something else becomes more important.

Creating space for other people to develop theirs.

Not because your insights are less valuable.

Because a team becomes stronger when people learn to think through challenges, make decisions, and trust themselves.

Why leaders hold on

Most leaders do not hold on too tightly because they want control.

They do it because they care.

They want to help the team succeed.

But there comes a point where constantly stepping in can accidentally hold back the people around you.

The leadership shift

Leadership shifts from providing answers to asking better questions.

Less directing and solving.

More developing and supporting.

The strongest teams I have experienced were not built because the leader had all the answers.

They were built because the leader helped their team discover their own answers, strengths, and ways of leading.

Where could you create a little more space for someone on your team to grow this week?
