Harder Isn’t the Answer

When things aren’t working, most leaders default to effort.

More hours. More meetings. More pressure. More control.

It makes sense. Pushing harder has probably worked for you before.

Until it doesn’t.

I see burnout creep in when effort replaces alignment.

Leaders exhaust themselves trying to force momentum instead of asking why it stalled in the first place.

Pushing harder isn’t always the answer

High achievers are especially vulnerable to this.

You’re used to figuring things out. Making it work. Getting results.

But leadership isn’t just about effort.

It’s about leverage.

Clarity changes everything

When your strengths are fully utilized, progress feels cleaner.

Decisions land faster. Energy returns.

You’re no longer dragging results across the finish line.

You’re moving with momentum again.

What to look at instead

If everything feels heavy right now, that’s worth paying attention to.

Not as a problem, but as a signal.

Before you take on more or push harder, step back.

Look at where your energy is going and whether it actually fits how you lead best.

That’s usually where things start to shift.
