I used to joke that I needed three people to replace me.
That’s exactly what happened when I finally left.
What it looked like at the time
I wasn’t disgruntled.
I was stimulated.
Growing.
Learning fast.
Having fun.
There was no one to delegate to.
I stretched because the work mattered and had to get done.
Because I was capable, more kept landing with me.
I was energized by growth and kept saying yes.
I felt responsible instead of setting firmer boundaries.
The shift
The shift wasn’t about doing less.
It was about learning that boundaries aren’t a lack of care.
They’re what make growth sustainable.
What belongs with you
Some things still need your judgment.
Some need shared ownership.
Some were never meant to stay with you indefinitely.
That’s not stepping away.
That’s maturity.
What to notice
If your role feels fuller than it used to, that’s not a problem.
It’s information.
Next step
The Power Zone Biz Audit helps leaders identify where growth is still aligned and where clearer boundaries are ready to be established.
Reflection
What’s one boundary you need to set this week?
If you’re feeling off your game or your leadership edge isn’t where you want it to be, the next step is at the top of the page.
