Moving Power

by Pia Jansson | Aug 27, 2024 | Leadership

Ever notice how the moment you decide to move, boxes and all, everything starts to shift, both inside and out?

Moving, whether in your personal life or business, creates momentum that can feel both exhilarating and challenging.

When change creates momentum

I have moved a lot, and each time it has created momentum and opened new opportunities.

A couple of weeks ago, I was looking for a new place. Everything fell into place when I opened the door to my new home. I have been energized ever since. Tomorrow, I move in.

It reminded me how often leaders go through similar shifts without always calling them moves.

Every move is a new chapter

No matter the circumstances, whether I have been excited to move or reluctant to leave, each move has given me a chance to reinvent myself, breathe new energy into a place with no prior history, make new friends and experiences, and begin a new chapter.

And just like packing up a home, leadership transitions ask you to let go of what no longer fits.

How you frame it matters

Expansion or downsizing, staying or leaving, every move presents its own challenges.

How you frame it makes all the difference.

Do you resist the change, or do you lean into the momentum it creates?

Lead yourself through the shift

In business and in life, change is rarely just about logistics.

It is also about identity, energy, and how you lead yourself through what is shifting.

The strongest leaders are not the ones who avoid change. They are the ones who move with it.

A question to reflect on

How do you feel about the change that a move represents?

It is not just about where you are going. It is about who you are becoming along the way.
