You’re off your game today.
And you know it.
Low energy.
Distracted.
Not bringing your A-game.
Here’s the reframe.
It’s data.
What most leaders do
They treat off days like a character flaw.
They push harder.
Fake the energy.
Or spiral into self-doubt.
None of that works.
A better approach
What if instead, you got curious?
Is there a reason you’re feeling off?
Did something happen?
Or did you push yourself too hard?
A decision might be sitting unresolved, quietly draining you.
Or you’ve been operating outside your zone for too long.
What high performers do differently
The leaders who perform best long-term aren’t the ones who never dip.
They’re the ones who know how to read their signals.
And pause long enough to understand what’s really going on.
What’s inside the off day
When I work with sales leaders and founders, we don’t skip past the off days.
We mine them.
Because inside that low-energy day is usually an insight waiting to happen.
Your strengths don’t disappear
Your strengths don’t go away on hard days.
But when they’re in overdrive, they flip.
You might be driven, relentless, and lead by example.
And suddenly become overcommitted, unable to say no, and burned out.
Same strength. Different energy.
Reflection
So next time you’re off, don’t fight it.
Ask yourself:
What is this day actually trying to show me?
If you’re feeling off your game or your leadership edge isn’t where you want it to be, the next step is at the top of the page.
