Recognition + Results

Some sales leaders only say thanks after a big win.

Some never do.

Either way, their team’s burned out by Friday.

Recognition drives performance

Recognition isn’t a post-close formality.

It’s what keeps people going every day.

Four ways to move the needle

I’ve tested a bunch of ways to do this without it feeling forced.

Weekly touchpoint

Connect with your direct reports and one person outside your team.

Get specific.

Try: “The way you pivoted when they brought up budget concerns, that closed the deal.”

The lost deal debrief

When someone loses a deal, acknowledge effort before the lesson.

“You prepped hard and showed up sharp. Let’s talk about what we learned.”

The buddy spotlight

Have reps call out another rep’s move on your weekly calls.

Hearing it from a buddy hits differently than hearing it from the boss.

The effort tracker

Celebrate the rep who made 100 calls during a rough market week.

Or the one learning a new pitch and putting in the reps even when results aren’t there yet.

Try: “I saw you hit 100 dials this week when everyone else was slowing down. That’s the kind of initiative that pays off.”

What actually keeps people

People quit when their effort goes unseen.

Make your gratitude effort-focused.

When you see the work people are putting in, not just the wins they’re closing, they feel like they belong.

Reflection

What do you do to keep your team from burning out?

If you’re feeling off your game or your leadership edge isn’t where you want it to be, the next step is at the top of the page.
