Someone to Talk To

by Pia Jansson | Jul 23, 2026 | Leadership

"Do you have a few minutes? I need to talk something through."

Over the years, I've heard some version of that sentence from sales leaders, founders, and executives more times than I can count.

The conversation rarely starts with, "I've lost my edge."

It usually starts with something feeling... off.

Looking beneath the surface

As we talk, the pattern begins to emerge.

Those conversations stayed with me.

I found myself asking the same question again and again: Why do capable leaders lose access to the way they naturally think, make decisions, and lead?

It was rarely because they lacked experience or ability.

Sometimes they just needed someone to think things through with. Other times, internal pressure, aggressive timelines, competing priorities, or internal dynamics had clouded their perspective.

Over time, they stopped trusting the instincts and judgment that had once come naturally.

The question that led to a book

I wasn't trying to write another leadership book. There are plenty of those already.

I wanted to understand what was really happening beneath the surface.

That question eventually inspired the foundation for the leadership book I've been writing.

I'll be sharing more about it over the coming weeks, and I can't wait to introduce it to you.

Have you ever had a season where something just felt... off, even though you couldn't quite explain why?

Ready for your next step? It is waiting for you at the top of the page.
