The Leader Who Listened

by Pia Jansson | Apr 3, 2025 | Leadership

Working with a leader with the “it” factor makes all the difference.

One leader I loved working with joined our company when growth had stalled.

Within his first month, he met with everyone in the organization, not to give instructions, but to listen.

With an open mind, he asked what was working, what was not, and where we saw opportunities.

He did not assume

He did not assume. He inquired. And then he adjusted.

He fine tuned his strategy based on those conversations and kept the momentum going with ongoing check ins, some weekly, others more often.

The result

People felt heard.

Energy shifted.

Within a few months, the entire company felt alive again.

There was movement, positivity, and even fun.

You could feel the upswing we were creating, together.

What he showed us

He did not just tell us what a great leader looks like. He showed us.

And he reminded us how quickly things can change when you tap into the talents already in the room.

Who is a leader who inspired you by listening first?

What did they do that made a lasting impact?
